NEAL BOORTZ
Neal Boortz is a 35 year veteran of talk radio and a 50 year veteran of life. After attending Texas A&M University from 1963 to 1967, Neal Boortz went to Atlanta to visit his parents. According to Neal, his father was working at Lockheed at the time, and liked the place, so he stayed and has been there ever since. Neal graduated from an Atlanta law school in 1977. “Law school finally presented a challenge worthy of my attention, so I worked at it and graduated near the top of my class. I passed the bar before graduation so I went into practice immediately. I continued practicing law until I signed a contract with WSB in 1992,” said Neal.
During his years in talk radio, Neal Boortz also practiced law from 1977 to 1992. Prior to 1977, Neal also worked as a jewelry or carpet buyer, an insurance salesman, selling life and casualty insurance, loading trucks, slinging mail at the post office, working in an employment office, writing speeches for the Governor of Georgia and auditing the books overnight at a “sleazy” motel. Neal has also explored his talent for writing. His books include The Fair Tax Book, The Terrible Truth About Liberals and The Commencement Speech You Need to Hear. For the third consecutive year, Boortz has been nominated "NewsTalk Personality of the Year" by the readers of Radio and Records Magazine, an award he won in 2002. Neal Boortz was also a "finalist" for a 2002 Marconi Award as "network syndicated personality of the year." He sees no shame in losing that award to broadcasting icon Paul Harvey.
